Other towns in the municipal district

Merweville

Merweville lies way off the beaten track in an area strongly resembling Nevada.  On the outskirts of the tiny town is the grave of an Australian soldier, so disturbed at fighting the Boers during the Anglo-Boer War, that he committed suicide.

Nelspoort

The Nelspoort Sanatorium, officially opened by the Prince of Wales in 1925,  was considered to be one of the finest TB hospitals in the world. The area's other claim to fame are the Bushman engravings and the "bushman piano's" - stone gongs whose purpose was to imbue the site with a spiritual atmosphere and to help induce altered states of consciousness.
